This past week I started reading Gatsby's Girl by Caroline Preston.
Have you read this one? It is the fictionalized story of Ginevra King, or Perry as she is named in this book.
I am about a third of the way through, and I have to say I am not really sure what to think of it. I keep wanting to read it, so I must enjoy it. But, I do find I am a bit distracted by things in the book. Especially, when things are close, but off. Or maybe even more, when things look like they are added to correspond with other Fitzgerald short stories, for example, the Luau costume. Was that suppose to reference Betty Medill's snake charmer costume in the Camel's Back?
And of course, the writing style of Ms. Preston is no where near the level of Fitzgerald (sorry Ms. Preston). But, then again, not many are able to capture those fleeting moments as well as Scott.
I will chime in more when I am done. If you have read this book, I would love to hear what you thought of it.
