| Save Me the Waltz- Zelda Fitzgerald |
I didn't finish it. I had a hard time getting into it, and I thought the flowery writing a bit distracting.
Some of the passages were interesting, but they seemed to ramble. And even knowing the story of Zelda and Scott, I wasn't sure where to focus, and I just lost interest.
I am not sure I made even half way through when I reached my library due date, and instead of renewing, I just returned it. It was a hard decision for me, but I didn't want to waste anymore time on a book I wasn't enjoying.
I do want to read it. I will keep it on my list and maybe someday I will have the interest to read it.
Have you read Save Me the Waltz?
Did you like it?

I just finished reading the biography about Zelda by Nancy Milford so I am interested in reading Zelda's novel at some point.
ReplyDeleteI have heard great things about Zelda by Milford, that one is on my list.
DeleteLet me know what you think of Save Me The Waltz when you get to it. I really would like to know how others find it.
It could always be timing on my part.
I have read it, and enjoyed it very much. The reason, though, is that I'm working on a novel about the Fitzgeralds, and I have great esteem for them, particularly Zelda. I wouldn't recommend the book widely, but I do appreciate her unique command of language. What's especially interesting to me is that she wrote it in six weeks in a psychiatric hospital. That's quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to have found your blog and look forward to following it.
Thank You Erika for leaving your thoughts. I would be interested in keeping in touch, and hearing more about your novel. I am more of a Scott girl, but I am learning to appreciate Zelda. I agree, the way she wrote the book is fascinating. She had a very unique life and I do think she is worth looking at, but right now, it is about Scott for me.
DeleteI keep saying to myself it is a timing thing.
